Dude, I have wanted to do a Dia de los Muertes challenge for SO LONG. *hearts you big-time* I'm probably gonna end up with, like, six stories. *snerk*

Yay! (I have a soft spot for both the B5 and the BtVS episodes - so I'm excited to see what comes out of this challenge.)

So...anything? Just...post?

Ooooh.

(And I've been reading the comments in the character polls with great interest. I just haven't had the time to really sit down and think out my own answers!)

Yep - anything! I didn't want the hassle and pressure of a story exchange, but I thought it would be fun to see what folks came up with from a challenge. . .

Can't wait to see what you say about the character polls - the discussions have been fascinating!

Since dead folk showing up to advice the living is CANON in my primary fandom, i guess I get to write in a secondary one.

I'm in

So, by 'dead,' do you mean dead dead, or do resurrected people count? I. e. is this a temporary revival where the dead person has to go back to being dead?

it would be me asking, y'know

(Reply to this) (Thread)

[info]fabu
2004-09-01 04:56 pm UTC (link)
Snerk - I should have known. . .

I think resurrected/vamped/reanimated people count, but I think the resurrection should be a surprise to the "living person" (i.e. Spike and Buffy sitting around gabbing in mid-season 5 of Buffy doesn't count [heh - it just occured to me that they *both* count as reanimated]). Does that make sense?

(Reply to this) (Parent)(Thread)

[info]guede_mazaka
2004-09-01 05:54 pm UTC (link)
Yeah, that makes sense. We're going for the basic surprise factor here, I take it.

*rubs hands together*

The problem is I've got so many fandoms where I've made this work.

You can write as many stories for the challenge as you like! ::grin::

Not necessarily surprise. . .but I guess I'm looking for stories where there's something unique about the encounter (I think a story where the living person somehow contacted the dead one would count, although it wouldn't have the element of surprise) - it shouldn't be just another conversation between someone who's alive and someone who used to be dead ('cause in some fandoms that's an everyday occurence!).

Speaking of challanges: I havn't forgotten your drabble meme challange. I'm gonna take the three day weekend to write, write, write. I also think I'm gooing to finally participate over at rough_magic. ;-) Wheee!!!

Regarding this - I'm really sorry, but I won't be able to write it after all. The story in so far as it's developed isn't going to be something I will feel I can post for various reasons, and I don't think I'll have other stories that fit under the challenges.

Okay, question.

Does it count if it's like, a guy who's been dead, but hasn't gone to the Dead Place Where Dead People Go (but he's not alive because he's dead) conversing with a guy who isn't real but if he were he would be alive, except that, you know, he's not real, because he's like a, someone's dream, except that dreams are real so he's real but he's not really real?

I realize this is confusing...

It's a straight challenge, so you can write whatever you like, within the parameters of the challenge, rather than being assigned a specific story to write. When your story is finished, you can post a link to it on the Master List (if the story is very short, you can post it in a comment on the list, otherwise just link to your post elsewhere). You can post anytime between now and November 1, and you can write as many stories as you'd like.

I can't wait to see what you come up with!

well, the bad news is that I am all ficced out and can't write anything substantial between now and November the first (when 'substantial' is sacrificed for 'wordy' in honour of NaNoWriMo.

The good news (YMMV!) is that I seem to be throwing off 100-word drabbles in much the same manner as a sparkler giving off sparks.

Where would you like 'em? In individual comments? (They are all different fandoms). Or somewhere else with a single link?

I'm polishing, and word-counting, and honing, and the like (and would like to round it up to 10x100): but, teaser-like, I can tell you that there are Pirates, Russians, Faeries, Actors, Warriors, Vagabonds, Kings, Servants, Gods, and Astronomical Objects.
